Transformation Through the Arts

 

This community initiative develops the Wiregrass as an ATTRACTOR of current and potential residents, visitors, and businesses and DESTINATION for tourism through creative expansion and enhancements of the arts.

After reviewing 22 months of community conversations, research, and analysis of the Wiregrass area (Phase 1 and 2), the Wiregrass Foundation board approved to move into Phase 3 of this transformation process.

The movement to Phase 3 was supported by:

• Strong public reaction
• Baseline arts-related organizations
• Dothan’s potential as a hub city
• Potential of arts, entertainment, and innovation district creation
• Existing public and private investment capacity
• Synergistic interests to develop the Wiregrass

Phase 3 will include:

• Scheduling community conversations
• Studying and learning from successfully transformed cities
• Conducting a fundraising feasibility study
• Hiring a professional to lead the initiative

As Zoom meetings are held, a link of the recordings will be shared on this website.

The goal is to officially begin the selected projects list by Spring 2021.
